With the best will in the world, painting is not easy. Learning to paint by trial and error is harder still. It is said you need to ‘know the rules before you can break them’, although perhaps in art it is better to talk about principals rather than rules. PaletteQ is a tool to help you apply some fundamental visual principals while you work, it is not a shortcut to avoid developing your own skills – but designed to help you develop them faster.

Learning and applying methods for seeing and creating accurately is the only way to improve – but if we have no way to check the accuracy of our results we cannot be sure we are headed in the right direction. A vague feeling that something is wrong (not to be ignored!) is very different from knowing what to do about it. PaletteQ allows you to quickly check many elements of your work on the fly, meaning you can make instant adjustments without breaking your creative flow.

A great deal of effort has gone in to creating a tool that minimises the technical distractions of both preparing our reference as well providing analysis and directional cues while we work – so that we can be more productive and ultimately, produce the art that we dream of.
